Like crystals sparkling in fresh morning snow, some of Western Stars' artists are especially aglow this month...
Our center gallery artist, Ezra Tucker, with fresh fanfare under his wings from such publications as December's Western Art & Architecture, is en route to Charleston, SC to the annual Southeastern Wildlife Expo. Last year Tucker of Monument was the event's featured artist. This year he is described in the catalog as follows: "Internationally renowned artist, Ezra Tuckerʼs vast knowledge of animal species and their anatomy gives his subjects a fresh appeal reminiscent of the old masters. Ezraʼs artistic style relies on his strong draftsmanship and expert painterly skills. His bold, distinctive style of painting animals reflects his acute observation of his subjects and he displays an intimate and emotional portrait quality rarely seen in Wildlife Art. Thus giving the viewer the opportunity to see a familiar creature with renewed knowledge and appreciation. Ezraʼs artwork has been recognized through numerous awards of excellence and his extensive and prestigious commercial and private client list." We sense that this humble hard-working artist will have his best show ever.
In addition, it looks like Tucker has also once again earned a spot in the this year's Cheyenne Frontier Days "Western Art Show" celebrating the American West’s heritage, scenery & the Western way of life. This show opens on July 19th.
Jenifer Bacon, painter, & Carol Walker, photographer, both from Longmont, had work accepted at “Western Spirit Art Show & Sale” March 3 - April 15 at Cheyenne Frontier Days. The opening is March 3 at 6pm & 276 artists will be will showcased.
Palmer Lake painter Gary Gore just finished "Gathering at Bent's Old Fort", 28 x 48, oil, a depiction of what was a major trading destination along the Santa Fe Trail during the mid 1840s. This piece, a departure in subject matter from his usual landscapes, is destined to be part of a Plein Air Artists of Colorado show that will hang in Denver's Capital starting in May.
The Out West Art Show recently announced that "Longhorn Blue" by Trish Stevenson, Savage, MT, will be included in the March 14-17 Squared Small Works show in Great Falls, MT.
Finally, painter Jack Olson of Severance, noted for his shimmering aspen & historically referenced train scenes, is awaiting word back from a number of juried events to which he's applied for entry.
We applaud artists of all kinds to show & grow & GLOW!
